Registrant acounts are accounts with CIRA that hold domain names. These accounts keep track of the Registrant type (Canadian citizen, Incorporated in Canada, etc.), the Administrative Contact, and Technical Contacts. It is possible to have multiple domain names held with a single Registrant account.
A Registrant Transfer occurs when the current holder of a domain name performs a transfer to another Registrant Account. This happens most often when a domain holder wants to change the name of their Registrant account, or transfer the domain to another person or company. To finalize the process both parties must confirm the transfer with CIRA.
A Registrant Transfer may occur between any two CIRA Registrant accounts, regardless of which Registrar company is currently managing them.
